The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 And spreading shade, 30 and gushing water, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And raised couches; 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 chastely amorous, 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
