The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 About the great news - 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 Therefore taste it now We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
