The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is wound up; 1 And when the stars fall down. 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 And when souls are united, 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open; 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 I do not need to swear by the orbiting 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 Where then are you going? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
