The Spider (Al-Ankaboot)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Mim. 1 Do men imagine that they will be left (at ease) because they say, We believe, and will not be tested with affliction? 2 We had certainly tried those who lived before them to make sure who were truthful in their faith and who were liars. 3 Or do they who commit evil deeds imagine that they can escape from Us? What an evil judgement they impose! 4 Let those who have the desire to be in the presence of God on the Day of Judgment know that their day will certainly be coming. God is All-Hearing and All-Knowing. 5 Whosoever struggles, struggles only to his own gain; surely God is All-sufficient nor needs any being. 6 We shall expiate the sins of the righteously striving believers and shall reward them better than their deeds. 7 We have advised the human being, "Be kind to your parents. Do not obey them if they force you to consider equal to Me things which you do not know are such." You will all return (to Me) and I shall show all that you have done. 8 We shall admit those who believe and do the right among the righteous. 9 And among men is he who says: We believe in Allah; but when he is persecuted in (the way of) Allah he thinks the persecution of men to be as the chastisement of Allah; and if there come assistance from your Lord, they would most certainly say: Surely we were with you. What! is not Allah the best knower of what is in the breasts of mankind. 10 Most certainly God will mark out those who believe and mark out those who are hypocrites. 11 The unbelievers say to the believers. "Follow our way. We shall take the responsibility for your sins." They cannot take responsibility for any of the sins. They are only liars. 12 They shall bear their own burdens, and other burdens besides. On the Day of Resurrection they shall be questioned about their false assertions. 13
