The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise and warn! 2 Glorify your Lord, 3 and purify your robes, 4 And uncleanliness avoid 5 And give not a thing in order to have more (or consider not your deeds of Allah's obedience as a favour to Allah). 6 but unto thy Sustainer turn in patience. 7 Finally, when the Trumpet is sounded, 8 it will be a hard day 9 For the infidels, not easy. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 and designated for him ample wealth, 12 And children to be by his side! 13 and made all things smooth for him; 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give yet more! 15 Nay! For lo! he hath been stubborn to Our revelations. 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 death seized him, how was his determining! 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 Then he looked round; 21 Then he frowned and scowled; 22 and he turned his back and behaved arrogantly 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” 25 I will cast him into Hell-fire 26 and what will teach thee what is Sakar? 27 It spares not (any sinner), nor does it leave (anything unburnt)! 28 It scorches the mortal. 29 over it are nineteen. 30 And We have set none but angels as guardians of the Fire, and We have fixed their number (19) only as a trial for the disbelievers, in order that the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) may arrive at a certainty [that this Quran is the truth as it agrees with their Books i.e. their number (19) is written in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] and the believers may increase in Faith (as this Quran is the truth) and that no doubts may be left for the people of the Scripture and the believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy) and the disbelievers may say: "What Allah intends by this (curious) example?" Thus Allah leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none can know the hosts of your Lord but He. And this (Hell) is nothing else than a (warning) reminder to mankind. 31
