He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 You pay full attention, 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 and fearfully, 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 On honourable pages. 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 Noble and pious. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 From what has God created him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
