Al-Infitaar
Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat) before The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Sky is cleft asunder; 1 and when the stars are scattered; 2 And when the seas are burst forth (got dried up); 3 and the graves are turned inside out, 4 the soul shall know what it has done, the former and the latter. 5 O man! What has made you careless concerning your Lord, the Most Generous? 6 Who created you, proportioned you, and balanced you? 7 In whatever form He willed has He assembled you. 8 Nay! But ye do reject Right and Judgment! 9 And indeed, [appointed] over you are keepers, 10 Illustrious scribes 11 Knowing all what you may do. 12 The pious will surely be in heaven, 13 and the libertines shall be in a fiery furnace 14 Roasted they shall be therein on the Day of Requital. 15 and from it they shall never be absent. 16 What could let you know what the Day of Recompense is! 17 Again, what will convey unto thee what the Day of Judgment is! 18 It is the Day when no one shall have the power to do anything for another, and all command shall be Allah's. 19
