Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 In an elevated garden, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 and goblets set forth 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
