The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 and made the night a covering, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 Recompense fitted! 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
