Thamood cried lies to the Envoys 141 When their brother Saleh said to them: "Will you not take heed?" 142 Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger. 143 So fear Allah, and obey me. 144 For this I ask of you no wage; my wage falls only upon the Lord of the Worlds. 145 Will ye be left secure in that which is here before us, 146 In gardens and watersprings. 147 And fields of crops and palm trees with softened fruit? 148 Though ye hew out dwellings in the mountain, being skilful? 149 Fear Allah and obey me 150 And obey not the command of the extravagant. 151 “Those who spread turmoil in the earth, and do no reform.” 152 They replied: 'Surely, you are one of those bewitched. 153 You are but a human like ourselves. Produce for us a sign, if you are of the truthful' 154 He said, "This is a she-camel. For her is a [time of] drink, and for you is a [time of] drink, [each] on a known day. 155 And do not touch her with harm, lest you be seized by the punishment of a terrible day." 156 They slew the she-camel, but later became regretful 157 so the punishment came down upon them. Surely in that there is a sign, but most of them would not believe. 158 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 159
