Hath the story of Abraham's honoured guests reached thee (O Muhammad)? 24 When they came in to him, and said, "Salam, (peace be upon you)!" He answered; "Salam, (peace be upon you)," and said: "You are a people unknown to me," 25 He went quietly to his wife and returned to his guests with a fat, roasted calf. 26 And he set it before them, saying: Will ye not eat? 27 beginning to be afraid of them. But they said, "Don't be afraid"; and they gave him the good news of a son who would be endowed with knowledge. 28 Then his wife came forward, crying and beating her brow. She said, "I am surely a barren, old woman." 29 They said: Even so saith thy Lord. Lo! He is the Wise, the Knower. 30 ۞ [Abraham] said, "Then what is your business [here], O messengers?" 31 They answered: "Behold, we have been sent unto a people lost in sin, 32 "To bring on, on them, (a shower of) stones of clay (brimstone), 33 marked out in thy Sustainer's sight for [the punishment of] such as have wasted their own selves." 34 Then we brought forth such believers as were there. 35 We therefore found just one house over there that was Muslim. 36 and We left therein a Sign for those who fear the grievous chastisement. 37 There is also evidence (of the Truth) in the story of Moses when We sent him to the Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 and he turned away in [the pride of] his power and said, "A sorcerer [is this Moses,] or a madman!" 39 So We seized him and his hosts, and We cast them into the sea, and he blameworthy. 40 And in Ad: When We sent upon them the destructive wind. 41 that left nothing that it came upon without reducing it to rubble. 42 And in the tribe of Thamud when it was told to them, “Enjoy for a while.” 43 But they rebelled against their Lord's decree, and so the thunderbolt overtook them even while they gazed; 44 And they were unable to arise, nor could they defend themselves. 45 The people of Noah who lived before them were also evil doing people. 46
