The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Has there not been over Man a long period of Time, when he was nothing - (not even) mentioned? 1 Indeed, We created man from a sperm-drop mixture that We may try him; and We made him hearing and seeing. 2 Lo! We have shown him the way, whether he be grateful or disbelieving. 3 [Now,] behold, for those who deny the truth, We have prepared chains, iron collars and a blazing fire, but 4 Surely the devotees will drink cups flavoured with palm blossoms 5 A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah will drink, causing it to gush forth abundantly. 6 They [are those who] fulfill [their] vows and fear a Day whose evil will be widespread. 7 they give food, despite their love for it, to the poor and orphans and captives, 8 saying, "We feed you for the sake of God alone, we seek neither recompense nor thanks from you. 9 Surely we fear from our Lord a stern, distressful day. 10 Wherefore Allah shall preserve them from the evil of that Day, and shall cause them to meet brightness and joy. 11 And reward them, because they were patient, with garden and silk, 12 therein they shall recline upon couches, therein they shall see neither sun nor bitter cold; 13 And near above them are its shades, and its [fruit] to be picked will be lowered in compliance. 14 and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver and goblets of crystal, 15 And crystal clear bottles of silver, of which they will determine the measure themselves. 16 and they will be given a cup to drink flavoured with ginger, 17 [derived from] a source [to be found] therein, whose name is "Seek Thy Way". 18 ۞ Immortal youths shall surround them, waiting upon them; when you see them, you would think they are scattered pearls. 19 wherever you look, you will see bliss and a great kingdom: 20 They will have fine green silk and brocade, and they will be decked with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will provide them with a drink of pure wine. 21 "Verily this is a Reward for you, and your Endeavour is accepted and recognised." 22
