The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
