Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 in a garden sublime, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 raised couches, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 And arranged carpets. 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 you are not their keeper. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
