S (Saad)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Sad. By the Qur'an containing reminder... 1 In fact, the disbelievers are in false pride and opposition. 2 How many ancient generations did We destroy? (On facing Our torment) they cried out for help, but it was too late for them to escape. 3 Now these [people] deem it strange that a warner should have come unto them from their own midst - and [so] the deniers of the truth are saying: "A [mere] spellbinder is he, a liar! 4 Does he claim that all the deities are [but] one God? Verily, a most strange thing is this!" 5 And their leaders launch forth [thus]: "Go ahead, and hold steadfastly onto your deities: this, behold, is the only thing to do! 6 We have not heard of any such thing in the old religion. This is nothing but a fabrication. 7 What, out of all of us, has the Remembrance been sent down to him (Prophet Muhammad)' No, they are doubtful about My Remembrance, no, they have not yet tasted My punishment. 8 Or do they hold the treasures of the mercy of your Lord, the Almighty, the Great Bestower? 9 Or is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them theirs? Then let them ascend by ropes! 10 But there - will be put to flight even a host of confederates. 11 Before them the people of Noah denied the truth, as did the 'Ad and Pharaoh of the Stakes, 12 And the Thamud, and the people of Lut, and the dwellers of the wood; these were the confederates. 13 Each of them who rejected the Messenger become subject to Our punishment. 14
