The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
