The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 And what will make you to know what At-Tariq (night-comer) is? 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 So man must consider from what he has been created. 5 He was created of spurting water 6 Issuing from (the pelvis) between the backbone and the ribs. 7 He certainly has the power to bring him back to life. 8 On the day when all secrets will be made public, 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 it is not a jest. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 and I am devising guile. 16 So respite thou the infidels - respite them gently, 17
