The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 and by the day when it unveils. 2 By Him Who hath created the male and the female, 3 Verily your endeavour is diverse. 4 As for him who gives and is godfearing 5 And affirms goodness, 6 We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness). 7 But for those who are niggardly, horde their wealth, 8 and he belied the finest 9 Surely We will ease his way unto adversity. 10 His wealth will not avail him when he falls into ruin. 11 Surely, it is for Us to provide guidance -- 12 And verify Ours is both the Hereafter and the life present. 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 None shall reach it but those most unfortunate ones 15 The one who denied and turned away. 16 But the God-fearing shall be kept away from it, 17 [He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself 18 and confers no favour on any man for recompense, 19 seeking only the Face of his Lord, the Most High, 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
God the Almighty always says the truth.
