But none believed in Musa except the offspring of his people, on account of the fear of Firon and their chiefs, lest he should persecute them; and most surely Firon was lofty in the land; and most surely he was of the extravagant. 83 And Moses said, "O my people, if you have believed in Allah, then rely upon Him, if you should be Muslims." 84 They said, "In God we put our trust. Our Lord, make us not a trial [the subject of persecution] for the oppressors. 85 And deliver us by Your grace from a people who do not believe." 86 We inspired Moses and his brother with this Message: "Provide dwellings for your people in Egypt, make your dwellings into places of worship, and establish regular prayers: and give glad tidings to those who believe!" 87 And Musa said: Our Lord! surely Thou hast given to Firon and his chiefs finery and riches in this world's life, to this end, our Lord, that they lead (people) astray from Thy way: Our Lord! destroy their riches and harden their hearts so that they believe not until they see the painful punishment. 88 [Allah] said, "Your supplication has been answered." So remain on a right course and follow not the way of those who do not know." 89 ۞ And We brought the Children of Israel over the sea; and Pharaoh and his hosts followed them insolently and impetuously till, when the drowning overtook him, he said, 'I believe that there is no god but He in whom the Children of Israel believe; I am of those that surrender.' 90 What! Now! When hitherto thou hast rebelled and been of the wrong-doers? 91 So We shall save your body this day, so that you may serve as a sign for those who come after you: for many people are indeed heedless of Our signs." 92
