۞ We gave Abraham aforetime his rectitude -- for We knew him -- 51 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What, are these the statues to which you cling' 52 They said, "We found our fathers worshippers of them." 53 He said, 'Then assuredly you and your fathers have been in manifest error.' 54 They said: hast thou come unto us with the truth, or art thou of those who sport? 55 He said, “In fact, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, the One Who created them; and I am of those who testify to it.” 56 “And, by oath of Allah, I shall seek to harm your idols after you have gone away and turned your backs.” 57 He broke them all into pieces, except their great one so that they might return to it. 58 They said: Who has done this to our gods? Most surely he is one of the unjust. 59 'We have heard a young man called Abraham mention them' they replied. 60 The others said: "Bring him, then, before the eyes of the people that they may see (what will be done to him)." 61 They said, “Did you do this to our Gods, O Ibrahim?” 62 He said: Surely (some doer) has done it; the chief of them is this, therefore ask them, if they can speak. 63 They then turned to themselves, and said: verily ye it is who are the wrong-doers. 64 And they were utterly confounded, and they said: Well thou knowest that these speak not. 65 He said, 'What, and do you serve, apart from God, that which profits you nothing; neither hurts you? 66 Fie on you and those you worship besides God! Will you not understand?" 67 They said, "Burn him and support your gods - if you are to act." 68 "Turn cold, O fire," We said, "and give safety to Abraham." 69 And they wanted to harm him, but We made them the worst losers. 70 We took Abraham and Lot safely to the land in which We had sent blessings to the worlds. 71 And We gave him Ishaq and Yaqoub, a son's son, and We made (them) all good. 72 And We made them into leaders to guide people in accordance with Our command, and We inspired them to good works, and to establish Prayers and to give Zakah. They worshipped Us alone. 73 We bestowed upon Lot sound judgement and knowledge, and We delivered him from the city that was immersed in foul deeds. They were indeed a wicked people, exceedingly disobedient. 74 And We admitted him to Our Mercy, truly, he was of the righteous. 75
