The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 and clustered bananas, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 and flowing water, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 on raised couches. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
