In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 As he bethinkest himself selfsufficient. 7 Surely unto thy Lord is the Returning. 8 What is your opinion – regarding him who forbids – 9 A servant when he prays? 10 What will happen if the praying person is rightly guided 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,- 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 [the while] We shall summon the forces of heavenly chastisement! 18 Nay! (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))! Do not obey him (Abu Jahl). Fall prostrate and draw near to Allah! ۩ 19
