S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Sad. By the Quran, full of admonition! 1 No, the unbelievers exalt in their division. 2 How many a generation have We destroyed afore them, and they cried when there was not time of fleeing. 3 It seems strange to the pagans that a man from their own people should come to them as a Prophet. The unbelievers have said, "He is only a lying magician". 4 What, has he made the gods One God? This is indeed a wondrous thing' 5 And their leaders launch forth [thus]: "Go ahead, and hold steadfastly onto your deities: this, behold, is the only thing to do! 6 We have not heard of any such thing in the old religion. This is nothing but a fabrication. 7 Has the message been revealed to him out of [all of] us?" Rather, they are in doubt about My message. Rather, they have not yet tasted My punishment. 8 Or is it that they have the treasures of the mercy of your Lord, the Mighty, the great Giver? 9 Or, is theirs the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them? Then let them ascend by (their) means! 10 This is only a small army out of the several armies that will suffer defeat here. 11 Before them the nations of Noah, Aad and Pharaoh, and he of the tentpegs belied, 12 and [the tribe of] Thamud, and the people of Lot, and the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan]: they all were leagued together, [as it were, in their unbelief:] 13 Each of them gave the lie to Messengers and My decree of chastisement came upon them. 14
