The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 a host of the ancients 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 and continuous shade, 30 and flowing water 31 And fruit in plenty 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 and raised couches 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 And made them virgins, 36 chastely amorous, 37 for those on the Right, 38
