The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O thou enveloped in thy cloak, 1 Arise and warn, 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 cleanse your clothes, 4 And banish all trepidation. 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 And for the good-will of thy Lord be thou patient. 7 Finally, when the Trumpet is sounded, 8 That, at that time, shall be a difficult day, 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 Leave Me (to deal) with him whom I created lonely, 11 whom I have endowed with abundant riches, 12 and sons ever present with him, 13 And made things easy for them. 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give yet more! 15 By no means! He has been stubbornly hostile to Our revelation: 16 I shall force him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 He planned and plotted. 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 And once more let him be cursed, how he plotted! 20 He looked (at others); 21 Then he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way; 22 then he retreated and waxed proud, 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 What could make you conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It leaveth naught; it spareth naught 28 Burning the skins! 29 Over it are appointed nineteen. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
