Nay! By the moon 32 By the night when it withdraweth. 33 The morning when it is unveiled, 34 Verily, that [hell-fire] is Indeed one of the great [forewarnings] 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind. 37 Each one is a hostage to one's deeds, 38 Save those who will stand on the right hand. 39 [dwelling] In gardens [of paradise,] they will inquire 40 And (ask) of the Sinners: 41 “What took you into the hell?” 42 They will say: "We were not of those who used to offer their Salat (prayers) 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 and we indulged in vain talk with those who indulged in vain talk, 45 and belied the Day of Recompense 46 until certainty came upon us [in death]." 47 So the intercession of intercessors shall not avail them. 48 WHAT, THEN, is amiss with them that they turn away from all admonition 49 As though they were frightened asses 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 Rather, every person among them desires that he would be given scriptures spread about. 52 No indeed; the truth is that they have no fear of the Hereafter. 53 No indeed; surely it is a Reminder; 54 So whosoever will may heed. 55 And they will not mind unless Allah please. He is worthy to be feared and worthy to forgive. 56
