He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 And he feareth 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 but others will be gloomy 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
