Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 in a Garden on high, 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 And cushions ranged 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 you are not their keeper. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
