Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
HA MIM. 1 A sending down from the Merciful, the Compassionate. 2 A Book of which the verses are made plain, an Arabic Quran for a people who know: 3 one bearing good news and warning. Yet most of them turned away and are not wont to give heed. 4 They say, 'Our hearts are veiled from what thou callest us to, and in our ears is a heaviness, and between us and thee there is a veil; so act; we are acting!' 5 Say, "I am only a human being like yourselves. It has been revealed to me that your God is One God. So take the straight path to Him and ask His forgiveness." Woe to those who associate others with Him, 6 who do not pay zakat and have no faith in the life to come. 7 But those who believe and do the right, will have a continuing reward. 8
