Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O you wrapped in garments (i.e. Prophet Muhammad SAW)! 1 Arise [to pray] the night, except for a little - 2 A half thereof, or abate a little thereof 3 Or a little more; and recite the Quran (aloud) in a slow, (pleasant tone and) style. 4 For we shall charge thee with a word of weight. 5 Truly the rising by night is most potent for governing (the soul), and most suitable for (framing) the Word (of Prayer and Praise). 6 Indeed you have a lot of matters during the day. 7 And remember the Name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with a complete devotion. 8 Lord of the east and the west! No God is there but He! Wherefore take Him for thy trustee. 9 And bear thou patiently what they say, and forsake them graciously. 10 Leave it to Me to deal with the affluent ones who give the lie (to the Truth), and bear with them for a while. 11 We have fetters (for them) and a blazing fire, 12 and food that chokes, and a painful chastisement, 13 On the day when the earth and the hills rock, and the hills become a heap of running sand. 14 Surely We have sent to you an Apostle, a witness against you, as We sent an apostle to Firon. 15 However, the Pharaoh disobeyed the Messenger and We seized him with a severe retribution. 16 How, then, if you refuse to acknowledge the truth, will you protect yourselves on that Day which shall turn the hair of children grey, 17 The heaven shall rend asunder thereby; His promise is ever brought to fulfillment. 18 Verily this is an Admonition: therefore, whoso will, let him take a (straight) path to his Lord! 19
