The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
