Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ I do not (need to) swear by this town (Mecca) 1 And you are free to live upon it, -- 2 And the parent and the offspring, 3 We verily have created man in an atmosphere: 4 Does he, then, think that no one has power over him? 5 He will say: 'I have destroyed a vast wealth' 6 Does he think that no one sees him? 7 Have We not given him two eyes, 8 And a tongue and two lips? 9 and shown him the two paths? 10 But he has not broken through the difficult pass. 11 And what do you know what that difficult steep is? 12 The freeing of a slave, 13 or giving food upon a day of hunger 14 to an orphan near of kin 15 Or the poor in distress; 16 Then he became one of those who believed, and recommended one another to perseverance and patience, and (also) recommended one another to pity and compassion. 17 Such are the Companions of the Right Hand. 18 But those who deny Our revelations are the people of the left hand: 19 with the Fire closed above them. 20
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
