The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 Created man from a clot. 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the returning. 8 Have you seen him who forbids 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 Did you consider: what if he is on the Right Way, 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 Did you consider: what if he gives the lie (to the Truth) and turns away (from it)? 13 Did he not know that God sees? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 By the lying, the sinful forelock. 16 So let him now call his gang! 17 We will call the guards of hell. 18 Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah). ۩ 19
