The Ant (Al-Naml)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ These are verses of the Qur'an,-a book that makes (things) clear; 1 A guidance and glad tidings unto the believers. 2 Those who keep the prayer established and pay the charity and are certain of the Hereafter. 3 We have made the deeds of those who do not believe in the life to come, attractive to them and they wander about blindly. 4 Those are they for whom shall be an evil torment. And in the Hereafter they shall be the greatest losers. 5 You have been conveyed the Qur'an from One all-wise and all-knowing. 6 Behold! Moses said to his family: "I perceive a fire; soon will I bring you from there some information, or I will bring you a burning brand to light our fuel, that ye may warm yourselves. 7 But when he reached it, he was called, saying: Blessed is Whosoever is in the fire and Whosoever is round about it! And Glorified be Allah, the Lord of the Worlds! 8 O Musa! surely I am Allah, the Mighty, the Wise; 9 Cast down your staff' And when he saw it writhing like a serpent, he turned about retreating, and did not turn back. 'Moses, do not fear, indeed the Messengers do not fear (when they are) with Me, 10 Excepting any who may have done wrong and thereafter changeth evil for good then verily I am Forgiving, Merciful. 11 Put your hand into your pocket. It will come out sheer white but unharmed. This is one of the nine miracles which shall be showing to the Pharaoh and his people; they are truly wicked men." 12 But when Our Clear Signs came to them, they said: "This is plain magic." 13 They denied those Signs out of iniquity and arrogance although their hearts were convinced of their truth. So see how evil was the end of those mischief-makers! 14
