The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 and serried acacias, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 and gushing water, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 and made them virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
