The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 And the night when it departs, 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
