The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
