And indeed We rescued the Descendants of Israel from a disgraceful torture. 30 They (had experienced) under the Pharaoh. He was certainly a tyrant, guilty of excess. 31 And assuredly We elected them with knowledge above the worlds. 32 and sent them revelations of which some were a clear trial for them. 33 Most surely these do say: 34 "That [which is ahead of us] is but our first [and only] death, and we shall not be raised to life again. 35 Bring back our fathers, if ye speak the truth! 36 Are they better than the people of Tubba' and those who came before them? We destroyed them, because they were guilty of sin. 37 It was not in idle sport that We created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them. 38 We created them not except with truth (i.e. to examine and test those who are obedient and those who are disobedient and then reward the obedient ones and punish the disobedient ones), but most of them know not. 39 The Day of Decision is the appointed time for all. 40 The day on which, no friends will benefit each other at all, nor will they be helped. (Except those who are pious – see verse 43:67) 41 save him upon whom God has mercy; He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 42
