The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Star when it goes down,- 1 your companion is not in error nor has he gone astray. 2 Nor does he speak of (his own) desire. 3 It is not but a revelation revealed, 4 He was taught by one Mighty in Power, 5 by the great mighty one (Gabriel), 6 being on the higher horizon, 7 then he drew near, and became close 8 until he was but two bow-lengths away, or even nearer. 9 and revealed to God's servant what he revealed. 10 The heart was not untrue in (making him see) what he saw. 11 What, will you dispute with him about what he sees! 12 And indeed he (Muhammad SAW) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] at a second descent (i.e. another time). 13 to the Lot-tree (in the seven heavens) 14 near which is the Garden of Abode. 15 When that covered the lote-tree which covered it. 16 The eye did not turn aside, nor did it exceed the limit. 17 For truly did he see, of the Signs of his Lord, the Greatest! 18 HAVE YOU, then, ever considered [what you are worshipping in] Al-Lat and Al-Uzza, 19 and your third idol al-Manat (whom you considered as God's daughters)? 20 What! for you the male sex, and for Him, the female? 21 This is an unfair distinction! 22 They are not but [mere] names you have named them - you and your forefathers - for which Allah has sent down no authority. They follow not except assumption and what [their] souls desire, and there has already come to them from their Lord guidance. 23 Shall man have whatever he craves? 24 All that is in the life to come and all that is in this life belongs only to God. 25
