The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The Hour of Doom is drawing near and the moon is rent asunder. 1 And if they see a miracle they turn aside and say: Transient magic. 2 They also gave the lie to (the splitting asunder of the moon) and only followed their desires. Yet everything is destined to reach an end. 3 And assuredly there hath come unto them tidings wherein is a deterrent. 4 Consummate wisdom-- but warnings do not avail; 5 So (O Muhammad SAW) withdraw from them. The Day that the caller will call (them) to a terrible thing. 6 With looks downcast they will come forth, from the tombs, as though they were locusts scattered abroad. 7 They shall be hurrying forth towards the caller, and the unbelievers (who had once denied this Day), will say: “This is a woeful Day.” 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled. 9 Then he invoked his Lord (saying): "I have been overcome, so help (me)!" 10 Then We opened the gates of the heaven with rain pouring down 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs. So the waters (of the heaven and the earth) met for a matter predestined. 12 And We carried him on a [construction of] planks and nails, 13 which sailed on under Our supervision: a reward for him who had been shown ingratitude. 14 And verily We left it as a token; but is there any that remembereth? 15 But how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning? 16 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 17 'Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 18 Verily, We sent against them a furious wind of harsh voice on a day of evil omen and continuous calamity. 19 Carrying men away as though they were trunks of palm-trees uprooted. 20 Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 21 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 22
