The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 facing one another. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 like hidden pearls, 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 and banana trees, 29 And extended shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 undiminished and never denied 33 and upraised couches. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 And made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
