The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
A requester seeks the punishment that will take place – 1 Upon the disbelievers – the punishment that none can avert. 2 From Allah, Lord of the Ascending Stairways 3 by which the angels and the Spirit ascend to Him in one Day the duration of which is fifty thousand years. 4 Therefore, [O believer,] endure all adversity with goodly patience: 5 They deem it to be remote. 6 but We see it to be very near. 7 The day when the sky will be like molten silver. 8 And the hills become as flakes of wool, 9 And no friend will ask [anything of] a friend, 10 as they are given sight of them. The sinner will wish that he might ransom himself from the chastisement of that day even by his sons, 11 his wife, his brother, 12 And his kin that harboured him 13 And whoever is on earth entirely [so] then it could save him. 14 Nay, verily it is a furnace 15 stripping away his skin, 16 calling him who drew back and turned away, 17 And collected [wealth] and hoarded. 18 ۞ Surely man is created of a hasty temperament 19 Fretful when evil befalleth him 20 when good visits him, grudging, 21 Except those who establish prayer. 22 Those who are regular in their prayers. 23 And those in whose wealth is a recognised right. 24 for those that ask and those that are dispossessed, 25 And those who accept the truth of the judgment day 26 and fear the chastisement of their Lord – 27 (from their Lord's chastisement none feels secure) 28 And those who protect their private organs (from adultery). 29 Except from their wives or those their right hands possess, for indeed, they are not to be blamed - 30 But those who trespass beyond this are transgressors;- 31 And those who keep their trusts and covenants; 32 and those who are upright in their testimonies; 33 And those who are mindful of their moral obligations. 34 They will be honoured in the Gardens of Bliss. 35
