۞ Muster those who did evil, their wives, and that they were serving, 22 Other than God," (the angels will be told), "then show them the way to Hell, 23 “And stop them – they are to be questioned.” 24 [They will be asked], "What is [wrong] with you? Why do you not help each other?" 25 In fact this day they have all surrendered. 26 And they will turn to one another, and question one another. 27 They will say: "It was ye who used to come to us from the right hand (of power and authority)!" 28 They will say: nay! ye yourselves were not believers. 29 Moreover, we had no power at all over you: nay, you were people filled with overweening arrogance! 30 “So the Word of our Lord has proved true upon us; we will surely have to taste (the punishment).” 31 So then, [if it be true that] we have caused you to err grievously - behold, we ourselves had been lost in grievous error!" 32 On that day they will all share the torment. 33 Indeed, that is how We deal with the criminals. 34 for when it was said to them, 'There is no god but God,' they were ever waxing proud, 35 And they used to say, “Shall we forsake our Gods upon the sayings of a mad poet?” 36 'No indeed; but he brought the truth, and confirmed the Envoys. 37 Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment, 38 and not be recompensed, except according to what you were doing.' 39 Not so, however, God's true servants: 40 [in the hereafter,] theirs shall be a sustenance which they will recognize 41 Fruits of every kind, and they will be honoured 42 in the Gardens of Delight, 43 On couches facing one another; 44 There will be circulated among them a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring, 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated. 47 And with them will be women limiting [their] glances, with large, [beautiful] eyes, 48 Like sheltered eggs in a nest. 49 Then one turned to the other in an enquiry. 50 A speaker of them will say: "Verily, I had a companion (in the world), 51 who used to say: -- Are you also one of those who confirm the Truth (of life after death)? 52 ‘That when we are dead and have turned into dust and bones, that we will either be rewarded or punished?’ 53 Allah will say: will ye look down? 54 and then he looks and sees that [companion of his] in the midst of the blazing fire, 55 He says, 'By God, wellnigh thou didst destroy me; 56 If it had not been for the blessing of my Lord, I would also have been taken to Hell." 57 Then he will say [to his blessed companions], "Are we not going to die, 58 and that we would not be punished?" 59 Surely this is the supreme triumph. 60 It is for the like of this that all should strive. 61 Is this better or the tree of Zaqqum 62 which We have made as a torment for the unjust? 63 for, behold, it is a tree that grows in the very heart of the blazing fire [of hell,] 64 Its produce is as it were the heads of the serpents. 65 And verily they must eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 Washing it down with boiling water. 67 They can only return to hell. 68 Truly they found their fathers on the wrong Path; 69 So in their footsteps they are being hastened on. 70 And truly before them, many of the ancients went astray;- 71 though We had sent warners among them. 72 Observe, then, what was the end of those that had been warned, 73 EXCEPT for God's true servants, [most people are apt to go astray.] 74
