The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood: 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who, by the pen, taught the human being: 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Yes indeed, man is surely rebellious. 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 truly, all will return to your Lord. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 A votary when he turns to his devotions? 10 What will happen if the praying person is rightly guided 11 Or enjoined guarding (against evil)? 12 What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead, 15 his lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 We will call the guards of hell. 18 By no means! Obey not thou him. Continue to adore, and continue to draw nigh. ۩ 19
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
