And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 [how it was] when he asked his father and his people, "What is it that you worship?" 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 He said: "Do they hear you, when you call (on them)? 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise. 74 He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,- 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 And Who feedeth me and watereth me. 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Paradise of Delight; 85 and forgive my father for he is among those who strayed, 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 When Paradise shall be brought near to the God-fearing 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 They will say while contending therein, 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. 98 And none has brought us into error except the Mujrimun [Iblis (Satan) and those of human beings who commit crimes, murderers, polytheists, oppressors, etc.]. 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
