۞ [The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and what they used to worship 22 Other than Allah, and guide them to the path of Hellfire 23 And detain them, for they will be questioned." 24 “What is the matter with you, that you do not help one another?” 25 Indeed, today they are surrendering themselves completely.” 26 And some of them will confront the others, 27 saying: 'You used to come to us from the right hand' 28 They shall say: Nay, you (yourselves) were not believers; 29 And we had over you no authority, but ye were a people exorbitant. 30 The statement of Our Lord is realized against us, and we are tasting it, 31 So then, [if it be true that] we have caused you to err grievously - behold, we ourselves had been lost in grievous error!" 32 Truly, that Day, they will (all) share in the Penalty. 33 Indeed, that is how We deal with the criminals. 34 for, behold, whenever they were told, "There is no deity save God," they would glory in their arrogance 35 and said: 'Are we to renounce our gods for the sake of a mad poet' 36 Nay! he has come with the (very) Truth, and he confirms (the Message of) the messengers (before him). 37 (They will be told), "You will certainly suffer the painful torment 38 Ye are requited naught save what ye did - 39 Except for God's sincere servants; 40 there is waiting for them a known provision; 41 Fruits. And they will be honoured 42 in gardens of bliss, 43 On thrones, facing each other. 44 a cup from a spring being passed round to them, 45 white, sparkling (wine), a delight to the drinkers. 46 No headiness there shall be therein, nor shall they be therewith inebriated. 47 And with them are those who do not set gaze upon men except their husbands, the maidens with gorgeous eyes. 48 like closely guarded pearls. 49 And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning. 50 A speaker of them will say: "Verily, I had a companion (in the world), 51 “Who used to tell me, ‘Do you believe it is true?’ – 52 "'When we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed receive rewards and punishments?'" 53 He saith: Will ye look? 54 He looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 And he will say: by Allah, thou hadst wellnigh causedest me to perish. 56 If it had not been for the blessing of my Lord, I would also have been taken to Hell." 57 But then, [O my friends in paradise,] is it [really] so that we are not to die 58 “Except our earlier death, and nor will we be punished?” 59 Lo! this is the supreme triumph. 60 For the like of this, then, let them labour, those who labour [in God's way]! 61 Is that the better entertainment or the Tree of Zaqqum? 62 Lo! We have appointed it a torment for wrong-doers. 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-Fire: 64 Its fruit like the heads of demons. 65 They will eat from it and fill their bellies with it; 66 Then on the top of that they will be given boiling water to drink so that it becomes a mixture (of boiling water and Zaqqum in their bellies). 67 Then most surely their return shall be to hell. 68 These are the ones who found their fathers steeped in error, 69 So they (too) made haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 And certainly most of the ancients went astray before them, 71 And indeed We sent among them warners (Messengers); 72 Then see what was the end of those who were warned (but heeded not). 73 except for God's sincere servants. 74
