The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
