The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
