And the chieftains of his folk, who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter, and whom We had made soft in the life of the world, said: This is only a mortal like you, who eateth of that whereof ye eat and drinketh of that ye drink. 33 and, indeed, if you pay heed to a mortal like yourselves, you will surely be the losers! 34 "Does he promise that when ye die and become dust and bones, ye shall be brought forth (again)? 35 ۞ After, after with that which you are promised! 36 There is naught but our life of the world; we die and we live, and we shall not be raised (again). 37 He is but a man who hath fabricated against God a lie, and in him we are not going to be believers. 38 He said, “My Lord! Help me as they deny me.” 39 Said Allah, “They will soon wake up at morn, regretting.” 40 So they were rightly seized by a mighty blast; and We turned them into mouldy rubbish: A good riddance of the wicked people! 41 Then We raised after them other generations. 42 No nation can outstrip its term, nor yet postpone it. 43 Then We sent Our Messengers in succession. Yet whenever its Messenger came to a nation they belied him, so We made them follow others, and We made them but as tales, so begone the nation who did not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our miracles and clear proofs 45 To Pharaoh and his Chiefs: But these behaved insolently: they were an arrogant people. 46 They said, "Should we believe two men like ourselves while their people are for us in servitude?" 47 So they rejected them and became of those who were destroyed. 48 We gave Moses the Book so that they might be guided. 49 And [as We exalted Moses, so, too,] We made the son of Mary and his mother a symbol [of Our grace,] and provided for both an abode in a lofty place of lasting restfulness and unsullied springs. 50
