Nay, by the moon, 32 And [by] the night when it departs 33 And [by] the morning when it brightens, 34 This is but one of the mighty (portents), 35 As a warning to humanity - 36 a warning to everyone of you whether he would like to come forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul is held in pledge against its own deeds, 38 Save those who will stand on the right hand. 39 In gardens they will ask one another 40 And (ask) of the Sinners: 41 "What was it that brought you to Hell?" 42 They will answer: “We were not among those who observed Prayer, 43 Nor did we used to feed the poor. 44 "But we used to talk vanities with vain talkers; 45 And we used to call the day of judgment a lie; 46 till the certainty (death) overtook us' 47 The intercession of the intercessors shall then be of no avail to them. 48 What is the matter with people that they are turning away from this Exhortation, 49 as though they were frightened wild asses, 50 Fleeing from a lion! 51 In fact every one of them wants to be given open books (like the prophets). 52 No! They do not fear the Hereafter -- 53 Nay, this surely is an admonition: 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 But they will not benefit from it unless Allah Himself so wills. He is worthy to be feared; and He is worthy to forgive (those that fear Him). 56
